Claw is a mogwai and the leader of The Old Batch that spawned in 1920. She was a major, later main antagonist in Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai. She formed an alliance with Riley Greene, but betrayed him later.
Appearance[]
As a mogwai, Claw has brown fur, with white on her stomach and above her eyes. Notably, she has a feral look for a mogwai, having bushy black eyebrows, tears in her ears, a spotted muzzle, and long claw-like nails not seen among other mogwai.
As a gremlin, she has a pudgy build with green scales and red eyes while keeping her trademark claws. She has noticeable lips, eyebrows that point upward, and eyes surrounded by teardrop-shared marks that give the impression of eyelashes. Her ears are rectangular and bat-like and have small spines on the arch.
At the nightclub, she wears a red flapper dress and feather bonnet, black slippers, eyeshadow, and messy lipstick.
Personality[]
Claw was as sadistic and violent as most Gremlins. However, she seemed to have feelings for Gizmo, best seen when, during her rampage through Shanghai, she stops to daydream about her and Gizmo getting married and going on a world tour.
Like all gremlins, she was destructive, mischievous and vile.

Secrets of the Mogwai[]
Claw as a Mogwai
Claw was one of the Mogwai from the old batch born from the water in a gourd accidentally spilled over by Sam Wing. After her birth, she looked at Sam and his family with a sinister look with her long claw-like nails. She jumped out of the Chinese cabinet and went around the shop with the other Mogwai. As Grandpa Wing explains the rules of the creatures, she, along with the Mogwai, runs under the table. He shines light at them, and she starts screaming, "Bright light, Bright light!" and she runs and tries to look for cover. She notices food on the countertop and is about to eat it before Grandpa Wing grabs Claw, him explaining never to feed a Mogwai after midnight. Claw gets mad, grabs his chin hair, and tries to scratch him, but he and Sam put her and the rest of the Mogwai in a storage truck so they can't escape.
Soon after, she and the Mogwai try to escape, but Gizmo manages to calm them down with a song that sends them to sleep. After Sam and Gizmo fall asleep in an alley hiding from Riley Greene and his henchmen, Claw, along with the other Mogwai, notices this as the opportunity to escape. Claw uses her claw to cut a storage trunk hole and escape. The four Mogwai roamed around the alley where Claw and the Mogwai found their way to the streets of Shanghai. Wandering around the streets of Shanghai, Claw, not paying attention, almost got run over by bicycles. Furious, Claw slashes one of the bicycle's back tires. Snout notices a dumpling restaurant and proceeds to head inside the restaurant along with Snout, Noggin, and Gaptooth. They manage to make their way in and hide under a table, and she and the Mogwai separate to find food. She manages to climb up a red lantern and crashes down and scare a customer she and the Mogwai start destroying and eating everything in sight, and she eats a dumpling right after midnight. Soon after Sam and Gizmo awake, they notice that they have escaped. They start looking for them and come across the dumpling restaurant they were in. They find them in the cocoon state. Later, Greene wakes up after being knocked out by Elle in the same restaurant, where he notices Claw hatching out of the cocoon, transformed from a Mogwai to a dangerous Gremlin.
Claw as a gremlin
As one of Riley Greene's henchmen runs out of the dumpling restaurant, Claws manages to grab him and pulls him back into the restaurant. Claw and the other Mogwai transform from Mogwai to a dangerous, destructive gremlin. As they attack Greene's henchmen, one of them tries to apprehend Claw. She launches at one of the henchmen and bites off his finger. He managed to get Claw in the cage as she played with his finger and pretended to smoke it like a cigar. Soon after, she and the other gremlins arrived at Greene's Factory in cages. Claw still has one of the henchmen's fingers in her mouth. She teases him with it before she swallows it and laughs at him.
Claw attacked the captain, taking control of the ship.
On Riley's ship, the gremlins reach the captain's cabin and shut the lights off. The captain discovers and is attacked by a gremlin, who takes control of the helm.
On Riley's ship, the gremlins begins to attack everyone and take control of everything. Meanwhile, Fong and Hon are also surprised by the appearance of a gremlin in Greene's office. The gremlin starts throwing things at them until they make it disintegrate into a liquid. Another one comes in, and Fong kills it with the ceiling fan. They are approached by many more, but Fong eventually finds a wand that can kill them instantly.
Hon and Fong walk through Greene's ship until they encounter Riley himself. Fong points the wand at him, which holds a bright light, which Riley says means instant death to a gremlin, but does nothing to him. They run away from him, but stop when they see gremlins attacking a henchman. When they stop, Riley approaches them from behind and freezes them.
Since he no longer had a crew, Riley struck up a deal with Claw, working together.
Using the wand, Riley kills many gremlins immediately and demands a parlay with their leader. The lead gremlin pops out, so Riley says he could take them out easily, but since they took out his crew, he needs to get to the Valley of Jade. He asks the gremlin, whom he names Claw, what she would like in return, and the gremlin responds that the ship will allow her to travel. Riley agrees to her terms and they become allies.
As the children walk through Ghost City, Riley's ship also approaches. Riley tells his gremlins to go because he knows the key is somewhere.
Riley asks a mogwai where to find the key, but he is not helped, and Fong and Hon begin to wonder if their son is there as well. Riley questions his mogwai when they try to sing to open the portal. He finds a mogwai who can sing, so it does and opens the portal. Riley enters, followed by his gremlins.
Riley walks fascinated while his gremlins creates chaos all over the place. Meanwhile, Radish is watching him, so he tells Theodora that they need to warn them. A creature tells Riley about the goddess Nuwa, so he tells Claw about a new task.
Riley demanded that he be handed over the mogwai.
Looking up, Nuwa sees Greene's gremlins. Sam says that they did not break all the rules, as Nuwa says she would need to clean up their mess. However, she realizes her magic is not working and starts feeling bad after drinking a bottle. Greene's gremlins attacks Sam and Elle as Riley tries to enter the tavern. Riley tells her to hand over the mogwai.
The gremlins wreaks havoc across town while Riley tells Elle to hand over the mogwai, saying he will forgive her if she does. Inside the tavern, Nuwa, Gizmo, Sam, and Elle hide from them. Nuwa complains that if Elle had not tried to enter the portal, she would not have been poisoned, and Gizmo would have been safe at home. Elle fights off the rogue mogwai while Radish shows up, saying he thought he and Theodora should warn them that Greene and the rest of the mogwai were there.
The evil gremlins keeps attacking Sam and Elle, so Sam lights a fire, which scares off the rest of the mogwai. Riley still waits outside, telling his mogwai to wait until the poison takes effect because he prefers to win when he fights. However, when he sees that his mogwai is scared because of the fire Sam lit, he goes inside the tavern. He asks where his mogwai, the goddess, and the children are. He believes he found Sam, but is surprised to see Radish there instead, who he shoots at to push him away.
Evil mogwai laughs outside and joins Riley as he travels to the Bagua room. Nuwa closes the door and tells the Administrator to prepare a portal to the Valley of Jade. She tells Sam and Elle that they will be going through the portal as well. Nuwa tells them to try not to mess everything up as she hands them passports, mentioning that she will be trying to hold them off as much as possible. Everybody tells her to go with them, but she refuses, saying goodbye to Gizmo.
Claw held Gizmo as her prisoner.
Fireworks go off in Shanghai as everybody celebrates the Chinese New Year. However, the celebration is interrupted by the portal Riley opens through which many evil mogwai fall. The mogwai causes chaos all over the city as Claw jumps into town with Gizmo with the knife of creation in her mouth. Gizmo tickles her belly, causing her to laugh, but Claw regains control and uses the knife to help the mogwai cause even more chaos.
As Claw's prisoner, he was forced to dance.
At Madame Claw's, which is full of mogwai playing cards and music, Gizmo is kept by Claw. Elle walks into the bar while Gizmo attempts to threaten Claw, but he is forced to dance when she shows him the knife of creation. Gizmo tries to run away and is put in a cage by Claw, forced to dance.
Elle attacks the mogwai at Madame Claw's, which confuses Claw. She begins to use the knife of creation while Elle walks up to Gizmo, releasing him from his cafe. However, she is pushed into the middle of Madame Claw's, and Claw attacks her. Sam, Fong, and Hon use bright lights to distract Claw and the rest of the mogwai, which allows Elle to grab Gizmo and run with him. Sam walks up to Gizmo and Elle, telling his mogwai friend that he will never leave him again.
Desperate to get Gizmo back, Claw made herself enormous so she could destroy Shanghai to get him back.
Sam tells Elle that they should steal the knife of creation back so they can turn all the bad mogwai into good ones. Elle says she agrees, so Sam, Gizmo, and Elle declare they will do it for Nuwa. Sam manages to knock Claw down, but she takes the knife back and uses it to become enormous. She starts attacking everyone as Sam, Gizmo, and Elle leave Madame Claw's.
Claw starts destroying everything in her path, as Fong can save Elle from a falling structure. Sam and Hon see this, trying to lift the structure and worrying about Fong.
As mogwai wreaks havoc all over town, Claw walks around looking for Gizmo and crushing everything in her way. Claw searches for Gizmo, imagining living a romantic life together and even getting married. She calls out for Gizmo, who is still hiding.
Mogwai keeps the chaos going all over town as Riley moves through the streets asking for their leader. He sees Claw from across the city and wants the knife back, but he trips there, declaring that he will use the knife to grow his hands back and stop their laughing.
Claw holds on to the knife as Sam, Elle, and Gizmo watch her. As they are about to start their plan to get the knife back, however, Claw swallows it. Sam says that he could make a laxative, but Elle suggests tricking her into eating explosives. As they talk, Gizmo leaves and throws himself into Claw's mouth, causing her to choke.
Gizmo sees the knife stuck to one of Claw's teeth and attempts to reach for it but is attacked by evil Mogwai inside Claw's mouth. Claw burps them out, and Gizmo manages to grab the knife.
After getting the knife back, Riley created a portal to Tahiti, exposing the Gremlins to the sun
As Elle and Sam rush towards Riley, he uses the knife to grow his hands back. Gizmo bites him to escape from his hands. As Riley begins to declare himself a god, Claw sneaks up from behind him and grabs him. Riley congratulates her for her boldness, saying he would fulfill her dream of seeing the world, but she refuses, crushing him. However, Riley opens up a portal to Tahiti, where it is daytime, thus exposing Claw and all other Gremlins in the direct vicinity to sunlight. The smaller Gremlins are instantly destroyed, while Claw suffers excruciating pain.
Claw lets Riley go as she orders every single one of the Gremlins to kill Greene before she succumbs to the sunlight. Her body melts away and eventually explodes.

- She was the second canonical gremlin with a female identity, the first being Greta from Gremlins 2: The New Batch but unlike the latter, she's naturally one without taking anything that altered her DNA.
- Like Stripe and Mohawk, Claw expressed a twisted attachment to Gizmo, even uttering the same phrase Stripe often said toward Gizmo. However, while the former two were hostile to Gizmo and hated him, Claw held affection for Gizmo and desired to have him as a pet or companion.
- In addition, her death from being exposed to sunlight is similar to that of Stripe.
