The Phantom is a gremlin that spawned at Clamp Center in 1990. Half of the gremlin's face has been horribly scarred, from an acid splash. The character is a parody of Phantom of the Opera, whereby it dons on a mask, and later plays an organ in homage to the original "Phantom".
History[]
Gremlins 2: The New Batch[]
The Phantom gremlin is first seen in Clamp Center laboratory with the Acid-splasher Gremlin, who held up a flask that comically warned, "Warning, do not throw in face". Then he splashed it right on the other Gremlin's face, then he becomes the Phantom gremlin. Cackling, he puts on a white half-mask. Later in a scene, Phantom joined Brain Gremlin's rendition of "New York, New York".
Phantom's finale comes with him playing an organ. Then the Christine gremlin, who was dressed up as a damsel, snuck up behind Phantom and then she unmasked Phantom. Upset about being revealed, the Phantom Gremlin attacks and snarls, pointing to the camera. As his figure blurs, it was reminiscent of the famous 1925 film scene starring Lon Chaney, Sr. as the Phantom.
Phantom presumably died along with the other gremlins in the lobby, who were all wet in water, and get electrocuted by the Electric Gremlin.
